We have often heard the term “She’s the Queen Bee”, but what does it actually mean. Apart from relating to the dominant reproductive female bee in a colony of bees it most often relates to a girl who is the leader of the pack. Go back to high school where there was always that girl who was the most popular, prettiest, confident and coolest – the Queen Bee – the undisputed leader of usually an all girl gang.
However, out of school and in the work place, a Queen Bee is often referred to that woman who is in a position of power. She is extremely dominant, expects everyone to do as she wants and is generally not a particularly nice person. In fact, the reality television series “Queen Bees” showed exactly that. The idea was to put several young women (18-20 years) under the same room who are generally rude and mean to everyone around them. The idea is for the contestants to complete different challenges with the intention of learning lessons about they way they treat people in their lives. They are given “stars” if they have progressed and the girl with the most stars is the winner.
